The primary objective of this Only@JCE Online column is to provide information about women and minority chemists who have made important contributions to chemistry. A short biographical "snapshot" of each chemist provides basic information about the person's chemical work, gender, ethnicity, and cultural background.

JCE Biographical Snapshots is a collection of such ‘Biographical Snapshots’.

  1. A birthdate and deathdate(if applicable)
  2. A description of the life of the chemist including accomplishments
Field Name Field Type Description Comment
id int Unique integer specifying the specific chemist
last_name text The last name of the chemist
first_name text The first name of the chemist
birth_date text birth date
death_date text date of the death of the chemist This may or may not be applicable
major_discipline int A number specifying the major discipline of the chemist
minor_discipline int an integer specifying a minor discipline of the chemist
snapshot text Main information on the life of the chemist
show int Specifies whether this snapshot will show up on the page While using the Echemist files, one might want to edit the page before actually submitting it for view. Someone might also want to take it down before editing the page. That's where this variable is used.
Chemist_id int Self explanatory
keyword_id int unique integer used for keywords
id int Unique integer value to keep track of the disciplines
name text name of discipline
id int Integer specifying the keywords
word text Actual Keywords
id int identifies the reference(In lit references table)
reference text The refrences that correspond to the particular chemist
link text A list of links that correspond to the particular article
