Communities:Assessment and Testing

ChemEd DL is building a community for assessment and testing in collaboration with the ACS Division of Chemical Education Examinations Institute. The first project this community will work on is development of criterion-referenced standardized tests. The large collections of questions in JCE QBank and the ChemEd DL metadata describing chemistry topics will be applied to establishing content domain guidelines and to align questions appropriately with chemistry content. The resulting tests will be useful for measuring how well students have learned specific content as contrasted with the current comparison of a class with norms based on entire tests. The criterion-referenced tests should make possible more accurate measures of course outcomes.
